Matthew 25:35

TUESDAY

NAU Matthew 25:35 ‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in;

NIV Matthew 25:35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,

KJV Matthew 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

Matthew 25 is a part of the Olivet Discourse, delivered on Tuesday of Passion Week and was the last public message that Jesus delivered. Together with Matthew 24, they describe the coming judgment of the world and the criteria for determining who will enter into the 1,000 year kingdom of God spoken of by Isaiah and again by John in Revelation. So, after the seven years of tribulation spoken of by Daniel in Chapter 9, there will be a judgment of ‘sheep and goats’ – the sheep enter into the 1,000 millennial kingdom, the goats enter into a place of torment. So what will be the criteria for determining who is a sheep and who is a goat – faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross!  But how will faith be demonstrated? According to verse 35, by demonstrating hospitality!

Hospitality is not an option….it is an expression of genuine faith!
