Joseph – Humbly Forgiving

THURSDAY

When a man understands God’s sovereignty (as Joseph did) he not only is not vengeful but he is forgiving. Vengeance is the lack of response to God’s sovereignty while forgiveness is the positive response.

NIV Genesis 50:19 But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? 20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. 21 So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.” And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them.

With sovereignty in its proper place, a man is humble before God and man, resulting in self-control which replaces vengeance with forgiveness.

Knowing that God is always in control brings peace of mind.
