The Necessity of the Resurrection

The posting is late today because I have really had a difficult time settling on a topic.  If you have suggestions, send me an email.  But I chose the Resurrection as a topic because we have so recently celebrated the event.  After all, Paul tells us that without the resurrection of Jesus, Christianity is a vain religion:

NAU 1 Corinthians 15:13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised 14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.

So, this week we will see the foretelling of the resurrection of Messiah, the members of the Trinity involved in accomplishing the resurrection and the purpose of the resurrection.

We are told that the resurrection fulfilled all Scripture:

NAU Luke 24:46 and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day,

Where was it written that the Messiah must suffer, die and rise again from the dead?

NAU Psalm 16:10 For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.

NIV Psalm 16:10 because you will not abandon me to the grave, {10 Hebrew Sheol} nor will you let your Holy One {10 Or your faithful one} see decay.

KJV Psalm 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

NAU Acts 13:34As for the fact that He raised Him up from the dead, no longer to return to decay, He has spoken in this way: ‘I WILL GIVE YOU THE HOLY and SURE blessings OF DAVID.’ 35 “Therefore He also says in another Psalm, ‘YOU WILL NOT ALLOW YOUR HOLY ONE TO UNDERGO DECAY.’

NIV Acts 13:34 The fact that God raised him from the dead, never to decay, is stated in these words: “‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.’ {34 Isaiah 55:3} 35 So it is stated elsewhere: “‘You will not let your Holy One see decay.’ {35 Psalm 16:10}

KJV Acts 13:34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David. {mercies: Gr. holy, or just things: which word the Septuagint in many places, uses for that which is in the Hebrew,  35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.mercies}

NAU Isaiah 53:10  But the LORD was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand. 11 As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors.

NAU 1 Corinthians 15:4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

NIV 1 Corinthians 15:4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

KJV 1 Corinthians 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
